State Assembly Bill 1482, otherwise known as the Tenant Protection Act of 2019, is only weeks away from becoming law!
Beginning January 1, 2020, California will have Statewide eviction control, and the amount of rent increases that landlords can impose upon residential tenants will be capped. The bill that changed the law creates two new sections of the Civil Code, § 1946.2, and §§ 1947.12 and 1947.13
Section 1946.2 creates the “just cause” requirements for eviction of certain long-term tenants. Section 1947.12-13 creates the cap on annual rent increases.
